Hyde Paradiso

Hyde Paradiso opened in March 2019 in one of the most iconic locations in Surfers Paradise. Perched up on the first floor below Peppers Soul Hotel, this impressive venue overlooks the beach, giving a bird’s eye view of the Gold Coast at play.

Occupying the space of the former Seaduction restaurant, the venue has enjoyed a total makeover, transforming its autumn shades to the hues of summer. Casual seating flows through the space to outside, enjoying a view of the Gold Coast at play jogging along the beachfront, surfing the waves, or buying souvenirs from the weekend market stalls.

It’s great to see that new owner, US-based hospitality brand HYDE (a joint concept from entertainment and hospitality giant SBE and Accor Hotels) has maintained some continuity of staffing, many of whom we recognise, and we are warmly welcomed to the stunning new venue.

Whether you want to indulge in a long lunch for two, cocktails and tapas at sunset, a family celebration or a meetup with friends, Hyde Paradiso has a lot to offer. Its tropical beachy daytime vibe transforms as the sun goes down into a bar and events space, a lively ‘fashionable playground’ for the young and young at heart!

We visit at lunchtime to taste the new flavours on the Mediterranean-inspired menu created by Head Chef Nicholas Butler (ex-Seaduction) in association with SBE’s Head Chef.

Most of the menu is comprised of plates to share either as a meal or with drinks, such as a special of Crispy tacos with seafood (a perfect summertime accompaniment for a cocktail), House-made focaccia breads with dips, Fried haloumi chips with rosemary aioli, Popcorn besan flour-coated mushrooms with chimichurri sauce, Watermelon and feta salad with pomegranate molasses, and Confit pork belly bites with maple syrup, lemon and feta.

The Taste of Paradiso at $55pp for a minimum of two people, provides seven plates of food to share, a great selection from the smaller plate menu.

Several larger dishes including a Cape Grim ribeye steak, Grilled Portuguese free-range chicken, Sea Barramundi fillet, Lamb ragu with house-made oregano fettuccini, and Porcini and truffle risotto with parmesan cheese or as a vegan option ($28 – $42) fill the place of more substantial dishes to share as part of a self-chosen banquet.

With a revamped cocktail menu, there’s no reason to go thirsty, including buckets and punch bowls such as the Paint the Town Pink with sparklers on top. The summertime vibe rolls on with margaritas, frosinis and sgroppinos as well as a selection of low and non-alcoholic Seedlip cocktails, Australian craft beers on tap and a great wine list.

We may not be travelling at present, but dining at Hyde Paradiso we can imagine that we’re beside the ocean on the Italian Riviera!

Quick lunches. Long lunches. After work nibbles. Weekend celebrations. Grab the gang and bring your appetite.
