The lush 5.5-acre property houses a former school, one of the Gold Coast’s original dwellings, dating back to 1923.
The property is now owned by The Bower Estate and Ridgeway Group teams, who recently joined forces to create an exclusive wedding and events business. They have invested more than $2 million into the estate, renovating, restoring and reimahining the historic venue to create a stunning contemporary wedding and events space.
“When the opportunity arose to purchase the former Eco Studio Fellini, it was over a long lunch with Daniel and Ruggie [Ridgeway] that we decided we should invest to create something very special and unique,” says Amanda Appel, one of the co-owners of Kwila Lodge.
“We wanted to breathe new life into the property, but at the same time respect the history and heritage of the grounds and building,” she adds. “As many original features as possible have been kept, such as the 100-year-old-stained glass, the hand-kilned clay brick accommodation, original clad and more, to heighten the sentimentality felt when you enter each space.”
The stylish main homestead, now recreated to comfortably cater for 160 sit down guests or 200 in cocktail style, features a grand staircase leading out to the beautifully manicured grounds where lawns and stone pathways, a lake and fountain are set against a lush forest background.
With the food and beverage experience at Kwila Lodge led by the Ridgeway Catering Group, which owns and operates restaurants such as the award-winning Little Truffle and Palm Beach Avenue, catering is destined to impress.
