‘A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush’, they say. Bird Royale is certainly one bird you’ll want to catch and bring home to Mum.
It’s the perfect takeaway – barbecued over charcoal (or fried if you want), free range, with chips and salad for the family all from the same store.
Hospitality entrepreneur Dave Galvin of SITE Hospitality (of Crafty’s Sports Bar, Harbourtown, and Mozza Mozza at Southport Sharks) knows that there’s nothing quite like charcoal chicken. He dreamed of bringing us a high-end, elevated chook, a little bit fancy, but not too much. Bird Royale is the result.
With the help of Group Executive Chef Nic Wood, Dave opened Bird Royale with a cracker all-day menu of breakfasts, charcoal and fried chicken, gourmet salads, sides, and desserts.
Of course, it’s ‘the bird’ that’s the centrepiece of the menu. It comes in two ways – char-grilled or fried. Choose a whole or half chook to go, dressed with house sumac seasoning or the signature miso and chilli. We’re talking free-range charcoal chicken grilled to juicy perfection over coals (from a single serve to a whole chook). Or you may prefer it crispy gluten-free fried by the box or bucket with pickles and hot sauce.
Chickin’ lickin’. Piled into sandwiches and burgers, in a hunger busting Super Fly Roll with lashings of gravy and smoked butter on a crusty white roll, or in an old school chicken sandwich, there’s a lot of hen around to crow about.
A range of gourmet salads, roast vegetables, chips, tater tots and vegie bakes are available to accompany your chicken.
The store’s front cabinet is filled with food to go – snack and quick eats, chia puddings, brekkie wraps, salad rolls and desserts.
With the esteemed ST. ALi coffee as hot or cold brew, there are also cold-pressed juices, kombucha and soft drinks available.
Bird Royale’s mouth-watering menu is available all day from 8am until 7.30pm. After 5pm, use kerbside ‘Chick’n Collect’ from the shop window at the back of the Brickworks.
