Fine Food Emporiums

Fine Food Emporiums

Where do foodies go to buy that special treat? We give you five places to buy the food of local and international artisan producers. Be warned: you’re likely to leave with your basket full!

Ambarella Fine Foods, 1 Santa Maria Court, Burleigh Waters

The concept of a market square with shops scattered around the edges is not new to the Gold Coast, however Ambarella has a unique and fresh feel. For starters it’s small, yet it holds most goods a local would need (fruit and veg, freshly baked goods, seafood, butcher, groceries, frozen yoghurt, juice bar, deli and coffee shop). Ambarella not only embraces a French provincial theme, but also the ‘farm-to-table’ concept. For us, it’s the place to buy those special extras or to have a meetup over a coffee and cake.

Barbosa Fine Food, The Kitchens, Robina Town Centre

Gourmet deli, grocer and café, Barbosa Fine Food is a food emporium to please the gourmet diner and cook. Stocking fresh bread, deli style meats and cheeses and gourmet goods from around the world, including high end organic products, the store’s expansive displays flow around the dining area fronting the kitchen. Diners can choose a cake from the cabinet to enjoy with coffee or indulge in a full gourmet meal at breakfast or lunch prepared by Barbosa’s chef. Picnic baskets and platters can also be ordered.

Golosi Food Emporium, 45 James Street, Burleigh Heads

A visit to Golosi is a sensory experience of sight, smell, taste and texture. Walk past buckets of fresh flowers to explore a showcase of handmade fine produce and deli items from small batch local producers, freshly baked slices to enjoy with a coffee, fresh local meals to go, and specialty Italian goods including the best tinned seafood, aged balsamic vinegars, shell pasta and sugo.  Golosi means ‘gluttonous or greedy people’ in Italian; fittingly, we hunger for more!

Manolas Bros, Capri on Via Roma, Isle of Capri

Since 1994, Con and Steve Manolas have run delis on the Gold Coast, sharing their love of food inspired by their Greek heritage. A delicatessan, café and providore, their store carries a huge range of imported pantry and deli goods, handmade food items including meals to go, charcuterie and cheeses, dips and cakes, as well as café meals. Catering is a specialty, whether it be ingredients for your next dinner, a gift hamper, a special celebration cake, finger food for a party or bespoke catering for a function.

The Standard Market Company, Ferry Road Market, 107 Ferry Road, Southport

Since 2006, this company has been the mainstay of Ferry Road Markets, owning five stores within the complex: Fine Fruit, Prime Specialty Meats, Quench Juice Bar, Sevilo Delicatessen and Flour Bakery. Whether fresh, fine or packaged, they source the finest fresh food and quality ingredients from local and international food producers, including heritage, seasonal and organic growers, artisan butchers and bakers and gourmet importers. It’s the place where cooks and fresh food lovers can find inspiration for their next foodie creation.
