Hentley Farm to Coast Dinner

Hentley Farm to Coast Dinner

Farm came to Coast when the Hentley Farm Wine Dinner was held recently at Coast Beach Bar and Kitchen.

Coast Beach Bar and Kitchen enjoys an elevated position overlooking the beach on the first floor of the Meriton Surfers Paradise. With prime position and a fine casual setting, Coast is acclaimed for its excellent modern Australian cuisine and stunning wine list.

The five-course dinner saw the bounties of the land and the allure of the coast unite in a harmony of farm and sea-based produce expertly paired with wines from the Barossa’s Hentley Farm vineyard. Alice Cleghorn, Trade Brand Manager of Hentley Farm, introduced the winery and Hentley Farm’s Head Winemaker since 2008, Andrew Quin, describing the wines paired to each course.

Hentley Farm is a single-estate boutique winery nestled in the rolling hills of the western Barossa Valley. After studying Agricultural Science and Wine Marketing at Roseworthy, Keith Hentschke, now the owner of Hentley Farm, had held senior roles for Orlando and Fabal, meanwhile searching for the perfect site to establish a winery.

Using an old soil map from the 1950s, Keith located the best parcels of land, including one of the most promising, a mixed farming property with diverse soil types and aspects. With perfect timing, Keith and his wife Alison purchased Hentley Farm in 1997, planting varieties according to soil and orientation, their first wine released in 2002. Now, most of Hentley Farm’s wines are produced from their single estate of 150 acres.

Pairing with Hentley Farm’s unique fine wines, Coast’s Head Chef Matt Le Beau is especially well respected for his seafood dishes, giving due respect to the freshest produce, and allowing it to shine. Also outstanding is our main course featuring the 1kg 50 day dry-aged T Bone steak, grilled over charcoal in the Josper oven and served with truffled baked potato, iceberg salad, roast bone marrow butter and jus.

With Hentley Farm being one of the featured wineries on Coast Beach Bar & Kitchen’s wine list, the wine dinner is a great opportunity to taste and learn more about a selection of their wines, paired to Coast’s acclaimed cuisine.
